GORONTALO – Universitas Negeri Gorontalo will collaborate with two companies managing the Pani Gold Project (PGP), namely PT. Puncak Emas Tani Sejahtera (PETS) and PT. Gorontalo Sejahtera Mining (GSM). This collaboration was marked through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding by the UNG Rector Eduart Wolok with the Main Director of PT. PETS and PT. GSM Boyke Poerbaya Abidin on Wednesday (21/2).
The Rector welcomes the collaboration between UNG and PT. PETS and PT. GSM which will include the implementation of the Three Pillars of Higher Education. According to him, the investment that the company has made in Pohuwato Regency is a new hope in industrial development in Gorontalo.
"In addition to including the recruitment of UNG alumni to work in companies, this collaboration will support the implementation of MBKM (Emancipated Learning – Independent Campus) around the mine to empower 10 BUMDes around Mount Pani," said the Rector.
The Rector also said that collaboration will facilitate students to develop competencies through internship programs, especially for geology and geography study programs and other relevant disciplines. Besides, the initial stage of the collaboration will award ten students with fully funded scholarships including living expenses, and it is expected to contribute to industrial development in Pohuwato.
"UNG will also collaborate to improve health for mining workers in the company by involving the Medical Faculty," he explained. (**)
