GORONTALO - The figure of the 4th President of the Republic of Indonesia, Abdurrahman Wahid, well-known as Gus Dur, has various stories and memories for Indonesians. To commemorate the figure who had great services to the Indonesian people, Universitas Negeri Gorontalo held a Gus Dur memorial lecture.

The activity, carried out in collaboration with the Jaringan Gusdurian organization, received enthusiastic student responses. The theme for this memorial lecture was the Love of Gus Dur for Indonesia, delivered by the Republic of Indonesia's Presidential Staff Office, also Senior Advisor to the Jaringan Gusdurian, Dr. H. Rumadi Ahmad, MA.

The National Secretary of the Jaringan Gusdurian, Muhibbul Ahmad, said that the memorial lecture was an endeavor to continue the struggle of Gus Dur. Also, it was a momentum to present and re-strengthen Gus Dur's insightful thoughts in the community, especially the UNG academic community.

"The goal was to disseminate and care for Gus Dur's thoughts and struggles for a better future for Indonesia. Then, it also reflected on Gus Dur's thoughts and struggles to respond to the challenges of the times and the future of Indonesia," he said.

Meanwhile, the Vice-Rector for General and Finance Affairs, Dr. Ir. Yuniarti Koniyo, MP., appreciated the memorial lecture in remembrance of Gus Dur's struggles and figure for students. According to her, this kind of activity was considered important to provide enlightenment and inspire the younger generation, especially UNG students, to emulate and continue Gus Dur's struggle for the future advancement of Indonesia.
