GORONTALO – The patriotic day of the Gorontalo Province as a momentum for the struggle for independence is commemorated by all people in Gorontalo. However, in a different way, the Special Activity Unit (UKK) of the Student Regiment (Menwa) unit 301 of Universitas Negeri Gorontalo commemorated this historic day by holding a national-scale activity of Joint Training (LATGAB) for the Indonesian Student Regiment in Sulawesi Region I.

The latgab activity, which was attended by 51 participants, also involved several Menwa organizations including, SKOMENWA Mahapati of Central Sulawesi and SKOMENWA Mahasamra of North Sulawesi.

As the commander of the Menwa 301 Unit of Universitas Negeri Gorontalo,Nurdin Kadir said that in accordance with the purpose of commemorating the patriotic day, the training begins with the guerrilla route of Nani Wartabone’s struggle as a national hero from Gorontalo Province.

"After the guerrilla activity, it is continued by visiting historical places and religious tourism in Gorontalo Province," Nurdin said.

He stated that as a form of appreciation and a manifestation of patriotism value in Menwamembers, the participants also performed a flower-laying ceremony at Nani Wartabone’s tomb. “This is done as a form of upholding the services of the heroes who have fought for the independence of this nation, especially Nani Wartabone", he explained.

The activity carried out for 3 days was closed with a friendly greeting from fellow participants, which was marked by the handing over of plaques by the 301 unit of Universitas Negeri Gorontaloexecutive committee to each SKOMENWA who took part in the activity. (**)
