GORONTALO – In strengthening financial literacy among the younger generation, PT. Pegadaian provides a public lecture combined with financial literacy for UNG students. The financial literacy and public lecture activities were carried out, in a series of signing of cooperation between UNG and PT. Pegadaian, Tuesday (5/11), at the UNG Damhil TC Ballroom.
The public lecture raised the theme of getting to know the financial industry better for the younger generation, presenting speakers from Financial Services Authority (OJK) officials, namely Muhammad Eka Gonda Sukmana as Director of Supervision of Microfinance Institutions at Pegadaian & Venture Capital Company Financing Institutions.
In his speech, UNG Rector Eduart Wolok said that understanding financial literacy is very important for the younger generation, especially students. With a good understanding of finance, it is hoped that students can be more independent in managing money, avoid consumer debt, and be able to take advantage of existing investment opportunities.
"The development and access to financial management today must be balanced with knowledge and understanding so that it cannot be misused, so that it will not have a detrimental impact on society, especially students," said Eduart.
This public lecture was enthusiastically welcomed by hundreds of students who attended the event. According to students, by attending this public lecture, many new insights about personal financial management, financial planning, and the importance of investing early were obtained as important provisions for facing the future.
