Gorontalo – Universitas Negeri Gorontalo Library collaborates with several institutions initiate an effort to strengthen the literacy spirit among Gorontalo people by conducting a literacy talk show in order to remember 102 years of Hans Bague (HB) Jassin, Wednesday (31/7).
According to Head of UNG Library Basri Amin, the literacy talk show became the opportunity to bring back the name and work of HB Jassin which has faded from people's memories. As a national figure from Gorontalo who is famous because of his literary works, HB Jassin must be remembered and appreciated by all of Gorontalo people, especially the young generation.
“HB Jassin is Gorontalo's son who has raised Indonesia with his works in the fields of literacy, language, and literature. "What he has done must be appreciated in various ways, one of which is to bring back his works," said Basri.
Through the literacy talk show, Basri invited the people, especially the young generation, to know HB Jasin's works deeper and be able to utilize his works as a source of knowledge in order to continue the HB Jassin's struggle in literacy and literature.
“People can enjoy and learn directly from HB Jassin' works such as Al Quranul Karim Bacaan Mulia, several of his letters, and his hand writing that are shown in the exhibition. "This activity is expected to give many benefits to people," he said.
