Gorontalo - Taufiq Qurohman, S.Ked. was one of graduates of the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Negeri Gorontalo at the 49th UNG Graduation Ceremony held on February 21, 2024 at the UNG auditorium building.

On this occasion, Taufiq was asked to give a commencement speech in front of the thousands of attendees present.

Taufiq told his experience in the last few years while studying at the UNG Faculty of Medicine (FK), where he had faced various kinds of challenges, and the biggest one was the Covid-19 pandemic.

"During the pandemic, we, Medical Faculty students, did nasal swabs or antibody checks almost every week. I appreciate all the efforts that have been made by the university because I think it shows the determination of Universitas Negeri Gorontalo and also lecturers to ensure we get the best knowledge in the most difficult times," he said.

As one of the first batch of UNG Faculty of Medicine students, Taufiq often received words that he thought were inappropriate.

"I don't take all these words seriously, instead, I use all these words to encourage me to continue to develop and prove to those who insult me that one day, the one they look down on will be successful and prove them wrong," he said.

As a student of Faculty of Medicine, Taufiq managed to achieve many achievements at national and even international levels.

“I would not have been able to have this experience without guidance from the great lecturers at UNG, especially FK UNG. I could finish my undergraduate thesis and research in Spain in 2022. In 2023, after being an outstanding student from the UNG campus 3 times in a row, I finally be able to bring the UNG to the national level along with 18 other universities," he said. .

Taufiq advised the graduates that every step taken is part of a long journey towards a glorious future. Even though the road may be winding and full of obstacles, never hesitate to move forward since there is always an opportunity to grow and develop in every challenge.

Taufiq Qurohman, S.Ked. also completed the Basic Medicine Program informal education program at the Faculty of Medicine, Hubei University of Science and Technology in 2021. Sports and Community Medicine Micro Credential Faculty of Medicine, Sriwijaya University in 2021. Obstetrics and Gynecology - Research Exchange Hospital Clínico Universitario Virgen de la Arrixaca, Universidad de Murcia in 2022, and Diabetes and Vascular Medicine - Research Studentship Wellcome Wolfson Institute of Experimental Medicine, Queens University of Belfast in 2023.

Taufiq is also a member of medical students in various international organizations, including The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, European Society of Medical Oncology, American Academy of Neurology, International Association of Student Surgical Societies, Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh, and the World Medical Association.

Some of the international achievements he has achieved are 1st Champion Assist Mom and Child Care Service AMSA Universiti Putera Malaysia Infographic Competition, 1st Champion on Diabetics Day 8th Annual National Conference, and Top 3 Oral Presentation Edinburgh University Obstetrics and Gynecology Society Annual Conference.

Taufiq published his article entitled Comparison of Medical Professional Education in Indonesia and the United States, Equity in Education Journal in 2022.
